The Steelheads closed out their preseason schedule with a 4-3 shootout win over the Petes last night at the Memorial Centre in Peterborough. The Petes got off to a good start, finishing out the first period with a 2-0 lead.
The Steelheads opened up the scoreboard 4:35 into the second period with a goal by Josh Burnside, to narrow the Petes’ lead to 2-1 after 40 minutes of play. Dylan DeMelo tied the game up at 2 goals a piece early in the third, and Burnside added another goal at 2:39 to put the Steelheads up. The Petes were able to tie up the game at 3 a piece late in the third, forcing a shootout. Stuart Percy and Kristoff Kontos both scored shootout goals to give the Steelheads the win with a final score of 4-3.
The Steelheads will kick off their inaugural season and Home Opener Weekend at the Hershey Centre this Friday September 21st against the Kitchener Rangers, and Sunday September 23rd against the Barrie Colts. Single tickets are now available through Ticketmaster online.
